At Alberta Pipefinders, we strive to make our surface locates as accurate as nature will allow. However, no underground facility is considered completely located until it has been hand-exposed because the physical nature of an electromagnetic field makes it impossible to guarantee that the marks on the ground exactly represent the position of the buried structure. If you are working within one meter of a surface mark, it is highly recommended that hand exposing is performed before ground disturbance is carried out.
